Sailor Jerry
Want to think before you ink? ClickFireMedia just made it easier to do so with a free iOS app for Sailor Jerry via Quaker City Mercantile. Using an iPhone or iPad, users can choose designs inspired by legendary tattoo artist Sailor Jerry, transpose them onto photos of their own skin, adjust the image until they achieve the perfect fit, and then post it on Facebook and Twitter. If the design looks just right, they can use the app to search for the closest Sailor Jerry tattoo artist via Google Maps API. While the Sailor Jerry app came to life using existing technology, ClickFireMedia tapped into their special design talents to create a unique user experience. "Where we aimed to succeed is making the interface and experience as slick as possible, so that the app will be not just a novelty, but a joy to use and share," said ClickFireMedia Interactive Producer Matt DeSimone. "ClickFireMedia was uniquely suited to build the Sailor Jerry app," noted ClickFireMedia president/partner Peter Corbett. "We have a passion not just for making great mobile applications, but mobile applications that entail the simplest user interaction for the most reward." While ClickFireMedia approached the app design with the intensity and perfectionism it brings to every project, personal enthusiasm for the subject matter made this a passion project as much as it was a work contract. "Sailor Jerry tattoo art has always been a passion of mine," stated DeSimone. "What has been most interesting is the positive feedback the app has gotten from tattoo artists and Sailor Jerry enthusiasts, who are really digging the fact that the brand has put something like this out there for free."
