Last August, advertising agency Barkley (www.BarkleyUS.com) debuted its first two theatrical spots for Dice (www.dice.com), the career hub for tech, in movie theaters across America. Those humorous spots were directed by NYC-based design and production company Thornberg & Forester (T&F) as key parts of the agency’s integrated campaign. In December, three new campaign spots from T&F debuted, and we are very proud to share them with you. As you will see, they all use a very distinctive creative and storytelling style to appeal to their audience. The two earlier spots were directed by T&F partner and creative director Scott Matz, while the new ones were directed by T&F creative director Frank Pichel. According to Scott, his team has illustrated and animated everything in Adobe Photoshop CS5 "with a secret recipe," with the exception of the end-tags created in Adobe After Effects. When asked for his thoughts on the project, Frank Pichel began by asking, "When have so few pixels offended so many? Dice and the amazing agency, Barkley, really went for it on this campaign. Their willingness to push the boundaries of taste and amazementariness makes these spots the most highly discussed low-fi since the humble gif was animated. Gold, in my opinion."
