In order to raise awareness of fostering children in need of permanent homes, SERVE Marketing has created a :60 PSA which will air on network television simultaneously throughout Wisconsin on Tuesday, May 10, in first position of the first commercial break during the 10 p.m. newscasts. May 1 began Foster Care Awareness month and one of the country’s most recognized non-profit advertising agencies, Serve Marketing, partnered with Adoption Resources of Wisconsin (ARW) to create a buzz-worthy campaign to raise the awareness about the need for foster families throughout Wisconsin. The “Turn a Life Around” campaign began in early April with 48 billboards donated (see attached) by Outdoor Advertising Association of Wisconsin placed in key markets throughout Wisconsin, including cities as far west as Madison and regions as far north as Marinette, showing an adult and child upside with no copy. The next tactic was launched on April 20 with requests spreading throughout Facebook for users to flip their profile picture upside down, followed by the “reveal” to the billboards on May 2, where families were shown right-side-up and the copy “Turn a Life Around.” With hopes of gaining additional attention, flash mobs will be conducted in five Wisconsin markets: Eau Claire, La Crosse, Madison, Green Bay and Milwaukee. According to ARW there is a critical need for children eight years or older, who are less likely to find consistent foster families or become adopted compared to younger children. The result is that every year more than 300 foster kids turn 18 without ever having a permanent family.
